Dec 15 2008 - Distribution of donations from YeungNule Eduphone Inc to children of San Luis Elementary School

Members of the Para Sa Bata (PSB) New Jersey and Manila chapters, in cooperation with Taal Heritage Lions Club (THLC), distributed school supplies to 100 chosen indigent children of San Luis Elementary School in San Luis, Batangas, last December 15, 2008.

The school supplies consisted mainly of notebooks, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, crayons and rulers, individually packed in school bags. They were donated by Neung Yule Eduphone Inc., a South Korean-based publishing company operating in Eastwood-Libis, Quezon City, from their own team-building fund-raising project called "Neung Yule Gives Back".

PSB responded to a letter from Ms. Mylene A. Borja, Charter President of THLC, for their project "May Kinabukasan Sa Paaralan", an offshoot of their educational program aimed at helping school children by providing them school materials and access to totally free education.

The PSB NJ members who assisted in the distribution were William and Marina, along with their kids Liesl and Lauren, while the PSB Manila Chapter members were Sandy and Cherry. The members of the THLC who presided the event were Ching Maligaya, James Hernandez and Monalee Maligaya.

July 4, 2008 - YeungNule Eduphone Inc donated 4 boxes of school supplies to Para Sa Bata Org

On July 4, 2008, PSB Manila Chapter team were invited by Mr. Ken Polidario of Neung Yule Eduphone Inc., on their monthly teambuilding event at Eastwood-Libis, Quezon City, Philippines.

Neung Yule Eduphone Inc., started in 1980 as a South Korean-based publishing company. The company ventured into English instruction due to increased demand of English education in South Korea. Hence, the company established its operations in 9th and 12th floor IBM Plaza, Eastwood Libis, Quezon City, Philippines in March 2007. Presently, it has 160 teaching and 20 non-teaching employes.

As part of their teambuilding activity, Mr. Ken’s team came up with an idea of a fund-raising charity project, from which Para sa Bata Org was chosen as their target donee. Ken and his team came to know the organization through surfing the website.

In the light of resuming classes on June 2008, Ken’s team intended to donate sets of school supplies to the less privileged but deserving students. With its theme entitled “Neung Yule Gives Back”, the outreach program mainly aims to foster not only charity work, but also camaraderie and teamwork among seven (7) teams with one hundred (100) afternoon (PM) shift-English instructors.

From the concerted generosity of Ken’s team, Para sa Bata Org has received 93 sets of school supplies which exceeded by 63 from its initial target of thirty (30) sets. Each set consists of school bags, five (5) notebooks, two (2) pencils, one set of crayons (8 colors), eraser, sharpener and a ruler.

As a culmination of their teambuilding activity, Mr. Sandy V. Ocampo and Ms. Clarice O. Maligaya were invited to assist in giving the award or special prize for the team who has the biggest number of school supplies set, and certificates of appreciation (signed by SVO) as a special citation for the participating teams.

Nov 3, 2007 - Packing of Boxes

Clothes, shoes, books, baby stuffs and lots and lots of toys! Thanks to everyone who became part of this years effort to bring happiness to needy kids in the Philippines. We packed 11 boxes and an estimated 2 more boxes to go for donations that we received after.

We are happy to announce that this year LBC Foundation has offered free shipping of the boxes to beneficiaries in the Philippines. They scheduled us for free delivery in March of 2008. The money that we saved will be used to purchase new books to be donated to public schools throughout the Philippines with the help of AHON Foundation. We are also planning to purchase items that will be donated to victims of recent typhoons.

As always, thank for your generosity and we appreciate your continued support as we venture into new ways of helping poor Filipino kids.

Oct 14, 2007 - Halloween Extravaganza

Para Sa Bata hosted an afternoon of spooktacular fun at the Roosevelt Park in Edison NJ. Our guest of honors arrived wearing beautiful, scary, cute, funny and awesome costumes. DJ Earl filled the air with music that sets everyone in a festive mood. The kids showed their creative skills by coloring, creating bookmarks and carving pumpkins. Then they were up on their feet playing games such as "Bring Me Something" and "Questions and Answers" (Wowowie style!). The highlight of the event was the costume parade around the park where the Best Girl, Best Boy, Funniest, and Scariest costumes were selected. Prizes were awarded to the winners of the games, best costumes and best carved pumpkin. Finally, all the kids received goody bags and left with big smiles on their faces.

Congratulations to the Para Sa Bata team for successfully organizing this event and thank you to all the sponsors, to the parents and to everyone who helped. Because of your generosity, we were able to collect cash donation and about 6 boxes of toys, clothes, books, and school suppplies.
