2006 to 2007 Events


May, 2007 - Distribution of boxes in typhoon ravaged areas in Naga and Sorsogon.

CCP facilitated the gift-giving in Naga and Sorsogon. An article from Mike who is our contact person from CCP:
"(Naga Distribution) It was held at GK - TRianggulo, a Gawad Kalinga site along the rail road. It was hit hard by the typhoon last year. While the organizers prepared stubs for the kids, the volume was great that we decided to give the books and toys to kids even without the stubs. Around 600 - 800 kids were present. The reference books (text books / encyclopedias) and the large stuff toys were donated to their barabggay day care center. Members of the Philippine Madrigal Singers were the ones distributing the books and toys. Their was a short program highighted by performaces from Bayang Barrios and the Lahing Batangan Dance Troupe."


Mar 21, 2007 - Distribution in Children's Village in Bulacan

Manila Chapter members, Karla and Eva travelled to Children's Village in Bulacan to help distribute boxes of school supplies to the kids. Children's Village provides shelter to more than a hundred children who needs rehabilitation due to abuse or abandonment.


Dec 9, 2006 - Kythe Christmas Party in Ateneo De Manila, Quezon City

Para Sa Bata members, Ariel, Dona with kids Dani and Adrian and Patty from the Manila Chapter, attended Kythe's 2006 Christmas Party held at the Ateneo Covered Court. Kythe have received about 7 boxes of toys and clothes that were carefully sorted by volunteer students of Ateneo. Small items are put in goody bags and big items suchs as play tents and huge teddy bears are set aside as gifts for their raffle winners. They got to meet with many children who are suffering from cancer but came out with their family to celebrate an afternoon filled with Christmas spirit.


Dec 6 2006 - Distribution to Caritas Scholars

Manila Chapter member, Rhea Ilagan with her four children : Jessica, Justine, Jeremy and Julia distributed 7 balikbayan boxes of old clothes and toys to some Caritas scholars at the Caritas multi-purpose Hall. It was truly a memorable experience for all of them.




October 21, 2006 - POGI Tour Championship Benefitting the Para Sa Bata Org

The Para Sa Bata Organization held its 2nd fundraising event w/ a golf tournament partnered with P.O.G.I. (Philippine Organization of Golfers Inc) at the Gambler Ridge in Cream Ridge NJ. POGI members and guests were all pumped up and literally posing with anticipation for the game. When all rounds were completed, the players enjoyed a sumptuous buffet of salads, burgers, hotdogs, beans and unlimited soda and beer.

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to all the players who have made this event very successful. September 23, 2006 - 1st shipment of boxes to beneficiaries in the Philippines

We are very grateful to everyone who have been generous in sharing their blessings with the children of Para Sa Bata. Because of your overwhelming support we are able to reach our initial goal of sending 20 balikbayan boxes to four charities in the Philippines (ABS-CBN Bantay Bata, Caritas Manila, Kythe Foundation and Munting Paraiso).

So, our heartfelt thanks to all of you for making this big milestone a success!


September 9, 2006 - Alan Asuncion dedicates his birthday party to Para Sa Bata


We'd like to extend our deepest appreciation to Alan for turning his birthday party into a fundraising event. The party was held at Casa de Rubio in Princeton, NJ where he requested his guests to convert their gifts into cash or in-kind donations for Para Sa Bata.

August 26, 2006 - 1st Fundraising Dinner Dance

The Para Sa Bata Team held their 1st Fundraising Dinner Dance at the Ramada Inn in Somerset, NJ. The event was casual elegance with a touch of simplicity, the mixes of DJ Earl filled the room with classic swing, ballroom, and everyday hits. Upon entering the party the guests were greeted with smiles and given an opportunity to meet with NJ based photographer Glenn Maningas from MyPinoyWedding.com, where a family portrait was taken. The program was well organized with an audio visual presentation that explained the mission of Para Sa Bata. Towards the end of the night a raffle was held were the prizes were beyond everyone's expectation. The lucky winners received one of two Compaq computers, candles, gift certificates, and free photo packages with MyPinoyWedding.com.

Thank you to all of our guests and congratulations to the Para Sa Bata Team for a sucessful and well-rounded event.
